International Courier Shipping Insurance

How to Buy Shipping Insurance with IERE

 

1) How do I purchase additional Shipping Insurance?

To purchase additional shipping insurance, please contact our friendly and knowledgeable IERE Express Customer Service Agents:

In Trinidad at 1(868) 652-IERE (4373) — Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (extended hours during November and December) excluding local holidays.

2) Why do I need to purchase additional shipping insurance?

In the event of any loss or damage to IERE Member packages being shipped to Piarco International Airport, IERE Express has 100% coverage for shipping insurance when IERE Members pay the Standard Shipping Insurance fee of USD$1.80 per USD$100.00 declared value of item (subject to change).

If you believe that your package is worth more than this, we strongly recommend that you purchase additional insurance prior to shipping your package with IERE Express.
Additional cargo insurance can be purchased from IERE Express for an additional USD$1.80 per USD$100.00 declared value of the item (subject to change). This is highly recommended when shipping fragile items, which may include (but is not limited to): televisions, computers, electronics, glass and other breakable items.

3) What are examples of items that are considered fragile and will require the purchase of additional shipping insurance?

We would recommend the purchase of additional shipping insurance for fragile items, including but not limited to items such as:

  • televisions
  • computers and computer accessories
  • electronics
  • cell phones
  • laptops, tablets and computer games
  • glass and other breakable items

4) Are any items restricted from additional shipping insurance coverage?

Packages that are not securely packed or that contain items on our Prohibited Items List are restricted from insurance coverage.

5) I have a damaged/lost package! How long do I have to I submit a claim?

  • Damage Claims: These should be reported to IERE Express within 24 hours of delivery. Please visit our Support Page for more information on Claims.
  • Lost Claims: Losses are extremely rare, but when they do happen IERE Express will work diligently to process the claim within five (5) working days of the date the package was declared lost. You will need to provide the original declared value invoices for the contents of the consignment. Claims are unable to be processed without this information. 6) What information do I need to submit with my claim?
